How do I create a character and level them up?

Players & GM · Characters · Updated

The guided creator helps you choose a class, ancestry and starting details, and walks through higher-level choices one level at a time.

Step by step

  1. Open Characters and choose to create a player character.
  2. Choose a starting level, then work through the class and character choices shown.
  3. Review the suggested abilities, equipment and spells instead of accepting unfamiliar choices blindly.
  4. For a higher starting level, complete each level’s choices before finishing the character.
  5. Later, open the character’s menu and choose Level up to review the next level.

Start small if you are new

Level 1 gives you fewer choices to learn at once. A higher starting level is useful when joining an established party, but it also means choosing the features and spells gained along the way. Read the short descriptions and ask the GM which options fit the campaign.

ASI and feat choices follow the campaign

The GM chooses the campaign’s ability-improvement rule. The app distinguishes choosing an ASI or a feat from gaining both as a house rule. Available choices depend on the character’s class, level and configured options; not every level grants a feat.

Review the finished sheet

Open the full sheet after creation to check identity, abilities, actions, spells and gear. Built-in options use the app’s licensed 2014 rules content; this is not a promise that every published subclass or feature is included or automated. Use supported homebrew tools for content you have permission to add.
