How do I roll dice and keep a roll private?
The Dice panel supports a pool of dice, while character controls roll the relevant abilities and attacks. Visibility is chosen before the roll.
Step by step
- Open Dice from the bottom toolbar.
- Choose the dice you want, including d4, d6, d8, d10, d20 or d100, and build the pool.
- Choose the public or private visibility option before rolling.
- Roll and read the result in the rolls panel/history.
- For a character skill, save or attack, use its character control instead of reconstructing the modifiers in a generic dice pool.
Public and private results
A public roll is intended for the table. Private game rolls are shared with their permitted owner and GM, rather than every player. The app applies ownership and visibility rules; hiding a panel on your own screen is not the same as making a roll private.
Death-save results and sensitive concentration details have their own owner/GM privacy rules. Do not assume a public visual effect reveals all the mechanics behind it.
Use the log to avoid repeat rolls
If you are unsure what happened, check the latest result before rolling again. Repeated clicks can represent a new deliberate action, not a way to reveal the old number. Attack rolls and spell resolution also interact with targeting, turn order and automation settings.
Keep the result where you need it
The roll panel can collapse to free map space. Drag its header to move it; move the panel rather than covering the result with several other windows. Positions are a preference on your device and do not rearrange another player’s screen.
