Upload a battle map and align its grid

Bring your own map image, calibrate the grid, and check distance before using movement guides or spell targeting.

Start with a readable map

The GM can upload a map image for the campaign. Choose a clear image where rooms, obstacles and paths are easy to distinguish. The artwork and the game’s grid are separate: changing grid alignment should not require redrawing the image.

Calibrate before measuring

Use grid alignment to match the overlay to the map’s intended scale. Check spacing and position in several places, not just one corner. An attractive grid that drifts across a large map can still give misleading distances.

During calibration, gestures change grid size rather than normal map zoom. Finish and save alignment before asking players to rely on measurement or cast-distance checks.

Verify with a familiar distance

Measure a corridor or another feature whose intended length is known. Then move a test token locally or inspect a range guide to confirm the scene behaves as expected. The calibrated grid is shared by movement, rulers and concentration geometry. If the party has no map yet, character access and map navigation remain available while the GM prepares one.

Quick steps

  1. Upload a clear map image.
  2. Open grid alignment.
  3. Match grid spacing and position.
  4. Save and verify a known distance.
