Short rests, long rests and Hit Dice
Use the token’s rest controls to spend Hit Dice and recover supported resources under the app’s 2014 rest rules.
A short rest is a sequence of choices
Short-rest healing spends Hit Dice one at a time, adding Constitution with a minimum healing result of zero. Inspect the result before spending another die. Spent Hit Dice and the rest session belong to the placed token’s private resources.
What a long rest restores
A 2014 long rest restores HP and recovers at most half the total Hit Dice, rounded down with a minimum of one. Mixed-die characters may need to choose which dice to recover. The app preserves those choices rather than pretending every character uses a single die size.
Rest controls are blocked during initiative and at zero HP. They are not a way to bypass an active encounter or replace the rules for an unconscious character.
The GM decides when the rest happened
Completing a rest is an in-game decision. There is no real-world 24-hour countdown used as a substitute for the story. Daily abilities and item-specific recharge are not automatically reset just because a long rest is completed. Supported timed effects expire according to the rest’s minimum duration; other elapsed time remains a GM judgement.
Quick steps
- Agree with the GM that the rest is valid.
- Open the token’s rest controls.
- Spend Hit Dice individually for a short rest.
- Review recovery choices when completing a long rest.
