Import a D&D Beyond character PDF
Import a filled 2014 D&D Beyond PDF, review the extracted character, and save it to your campaign without retyping the sheet.
Use the exported character PDF
In D&D Beyond, export the character as a PDF. The importer expects filled character fields; a photograph, scanned sheet or print-to-PDF copy is not equivalent. Choose a single 2014 character and a file within the importer’s displayed size limit.
Cartographer tools reads the PDF locally before preparing the character review. This is a one-time copy, not a connected D&D Beyond account or an ongoing synchronisation.
Review before importing
Check the character’s identity, level, abilities, attacks, spells and equipment. Imported totals can already contain equipment bonuses, so adding equipment effects without review could misrepresent the original sheet. Read the import notes and confirm the 2014 rules before saving.
Keep custom rules visible
A character PDF describes a current character; it is not a complete rulebook for future subclass choices. Custom spells and unusual features can require GM review. Preserve the original sheet as a reference, and use the optional source link when it helps the group check details later. A successful import does not imply every written feature is executable automation.
Quick steps
- Export one character from D&D Beyond.
- Choose Import character in the app.
- Select the PDF and inspect the review notes.
- Confirm the rules edition and save the character.
