Track concentration and persistent spell areas

Persistent concentration areas stay on the calibrated map and disappear when concentration ends, while spell details remain private to the owner and GM.

A zone is more than an animation

A concentration area persists independently of a short combat animation. Point areas stay at their chosen location; caster-centred auras follow their token. The calibrated grid determines how the geometry appears on the map.

Keep private details private

Spell names, save details and concentration rolls belong to the owner and GM. Other players receive appropriate public markers and sanitised area geometry. Seeing a shape on the map is not permission to expose the caster’s private resource state.

The concentration state is stored with the placed caster token. It is not written into the reusable character sheet as a permanent feature.

Do not treat the zone as a damage engine

Rendering an area does not repeatedly roll dice, spend resources or apply damage. Spell-specific triggers and unsupported ongoing effects need the appropriate GM resolution. When concentration is replaced or lost, linked effects and areas are cleaned up according to their support. Use the explicit controls rather than assuming a visual burst or marker alone has resolved the entire spell.

Quick steps

  1. Cast a supported concentration spell with valid targets.
  2. Check the persistent area on the map.
  3. Resolve ongoing effects through the appropriate controls.
  4. End or replace concentration when required.
